The last few years have been incredibly volatile and the collapse of some of the world’s largest financial institutions, coupled with the real uncertainty surrounding exactly how the UK and other countries plan to tackle huge sovereign debt mountains, has undoubtedly been a major driving force behind many investors recently deciding to turn away from risky and poorly performing traditional investments such as stocks, bonds, property and, dare I say it, even pensions.

As the world emerges from the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression, so many of you are rightly worried about financial security and your future. Yet despite these worries, we urge you to remain focussed, be forward thinking and not be deterred by recent economic events in order for you to reach your goals.  

We have been around for many of the market’s highs and lows and our experiences have equipped us with extensive knowledge and sound financial instincts, which allowed us to spot real opportunities when we saw them. We spent many months searching for the next big thing, something robust and resilient and less volatile than traditional investments. We decided it was time to go back to basics, to concentrate on simple key investment principles such as supply and demand, sustainability and common sense. Change was needed, not just in the way we think about investment strategy, but change in asset class; change for ethical and responsible reasons and change in the geography of our investments.
